Ready to share your story?

We are honored that you are considering sharing your family's history with the CCFA community. Your voice is a vital part of preserving our collective legacy. Please follow the simple steps below to submit your story for consideration on our page.

Instructions

Step 1- Tell Us About Yourself

Provide your name and contact information so we can reach you if we have questions about your submission. You may choose to have your story published using your full name, first name only, or anonymously.

Step 2- Share Your Story

In the story field provided, write a short personal narrative in your own words between 150 and 500 words. Your submission can cover your journey tracing your Freedmen ancestry, a family member worth remembering, your experience seeking tribal recognition, or a discovery that changed everything for you. Write naturally and honestly because we are looking for truth, not perfection.

Step 3- Upload a Photo (Optional but Encouraged)

You may upload one or more photographs including family portraits, ancestor photos, Dawes Roll records, or meaningful objects connected to your story. Accepted formats are JPG, PNG, or PDF with a maximum file size of 10MB per image. Please only upload photos and documents you have the right to share.

Step 4- Review and Submit

Read and check the box confirming your agreement with our publication disclaimer. Once completed, click Submit. You will receive an automatic confirmation email, and a CCFA team member will follow up if needed.

Permission & Publication Disclaimer

By submitting your story and any accompanying photographs or materials to the Choctaw-Chickasaw Freedmen Association (CCFA), you confirm that the content is your own and that you grant CCFA permission to publish, share, and archive your submission on the CCFA website, blog, and affiliated social media platforms. CCFA will always credit your story as you direct by your full name, first name only, or anonymously, per your preference indicated at the time of submission. CCFA reserves the right to lightly edit submissions for length and clarity while preserving your original voice. You may request removal of your story at any time by contacting us.
